Description

Choclate bark is such an easy thing to make for Christmas gifts. You can get really creative with the mix of chocolates you use and the toppings. This is something super easy that the kids can help with too!

For this recipe I tried the bark two ways.

One with 95% dark chocolate, topped with chopped pistachios, shredded coconut and freeze dried berries.

For the other I used dark, milk and white chocolate (the milk and white chocolate were Vitawerx chocolate) and topped with freeze dried berries.

Here are some other ideas for you:

White chocolate topped with flaked almonds and freeze dried berries

Milk chocolate with almonds

Dark chocolate with crispy bacon bits (yes! Bacon!)

The options are endless! I'd love for you to share photos of your chocolate bark. You can post them in our Facebook group or tag us on Instagram @yourmealsau

Instructions

Conventional Method

  1. Line a baking tray with baking paper.

  2. Break, or roughly chop the chocolate, and place in a microwave proof bowl. Heat in 30 second bursts and stir until melted and smooth. If you are using two or three different chocolates, you will need to melt these in separate bowls.

  3. Pour chocolate onto the baking tray and smooth out with a spatula. If you are using different chocolates, swirl the chocolate with the tip of a knife, or a skewer and until you are happy with the patterns.

  4. Sprinkle over the toppings and place the bark in the fridge to set.

  5. Break apart roughly to serve, or place in jars or a plastic bag and tie with a ribbon for an easy, but tasty Christmas gift.

Thermomix Method

  1. Line a baking tray with baking paper.

  2. Break the chocolate into pieces and place in the Thermomix bowl. Grate for 10sec/sp7.

  3. Scrape down the sides and melt for 3sec/60°/sp2 or until melted and smooth.

  4. Pour chocolate onto the baking tray and smooth out with a spatula. If you are using different chocolates, swirl the chocolate with the tip of a knife, or a skewer and until you are happy with the patterns.

  5. Sprinkle over the toppings and place the bark in the fridge to set.

  6. Break apart roughly to serve, or place in jars or a plastic bag and tie with a ribbon for an easy, but tasty Christmas gift.
