The Best Homemade Caesar Salad Dressing Recipe
Who hasn't heard of Caesar salad? It's a classic side dish that's served with every barbeque and can be found in almost any restaurant these days. You have your croutons, your crunchy romaine lettuce, and your creamy Caesar dressing - what's not to love?
There's one way to take your Caesar salad experience up to the next level - make your own homemade Caesar dressing! Say goodbye to store-bought bottled dressings, and hello to a delicious blend of homemade ingredients.
My homemade Caesar salad dressing recipe is a tried-and-true classic. It's loaded with salty anchovies, freshly grated Parmesan cheese, Dijon mustard, and of course, a generous helping of homemade mayonnaise. Not only is this dressing incredibly delicious, but it's also healthy, low in calories and fat-free. It's the perfect companion for any salad and the perfect way to spruce up your BBQs!
So, let's get started on making this delicious dressing – it's easier than you think!
Caesar Salad Recipe With A Twist
The traditional way to make a Caesar salad dressing recipe, while delicious, is way too complex for a lot of home chefs. You have your raw egg yolk and your anchovies and your capers, which you need to mash and blend. I wanted to make something simpler that you can easily whip up in your kitchen with no fuss or effort.
This recipe is perfect for busy days – it only requires five ingredients and can be made in minutes. Once the dressing is done, all you have to do is toss it with the salad ingredients, and voila – your very own homemade Caesar dressing is ready!
And the best part? Since I don’t use egg yolk in my recipe, you can even make this a totally egg free Caesar dressing simply by using some vegan mayonnaise!
5 Best Dishes To Serve With Caesar Salad
I'm one of those people who can eat a bowl of Caesar salad just as it is - it's just that good! But if you'd like to make a full meal out of your salad, here are some dishes I highly recommend. All of them pair well with my Caesar salad dressing recipe!
Grilled Chicken: Hands down, the best way to serve your Caesar salad is with some juicy grilled chicken. The smoky flavour of the chicken, the crunch of the lettuce, and the creamy dressing is simply heavenly. PS: Even roast chicken tastes absolutely amazing with Caesar salad! Here's my recipe for a Roast Chicken and Keto Gravy that turns this Caesar salad into the best lunch/dinner ever!
Coconut Prawns: This one's a little fancy, but it tastes heavenly and looks beautiful. I use a gluten-free almond flour and desiccated coconut coating, then golden fry the prawns to perfection. Serve them with a side of my Caesar salad, and you'll have a dish that everyone's gonna be talking about!
Garlic Bread: There's garlic in my healthy salad dressing recipe, so why not take it up a notch with some garlic bread? This is great for those nights when you want to impress someone special. Top it off with some cheese, and you'll have a dish that's sure to please!
Fish Tacos: Fish tacos are one of my favorite ways to enjoy a Caesar salad. The creamy dressing, the crispy lettuce, and the juicy fish make for one delicious combination. I like to use tilapia fillets, baked to perfection with some olive oil, garlic, and cumin. Don't forget to drizzle a generous helping of my Caesar salad dressing recipe!
Roasted Veggies: Maybe not as popular as the other dishes, but this one is healthy and easy to make. I like to use a mix of bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, onions, and mushrooms for this one. Looks super colourful, and the taste is absolutely divine!
Once you make my Caesar salad dressing recipe, please go ahead and pair it up with any of these dishes. I can give you one guarantee – you won't be disappointed!
Easy Low-Calorie Dressings for Salads
Not all salads might go well with a Caesar salad dressing recipe. Maybe you want something else that's healthier and lower in calories – no problem! Here are some easy low-calorie dressings that you can make at home.
Lemon Vinaigrette: A classic vinaigrette made with lemon juice, extra-virgin olive oil, shallots, and Dijon mustard. Best with roasted veggies and fresh greens.
Honey Mustard Dressing: A creamy, dreamy salad dressing made with honey, Dijon mustard, and a little bit of apple cider vinegar. If you're making a chicken salad, this one's a must!
Ginger Soy Dressing: An Asian-inspired dressing made with soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and grated ginger. Perfect for salads with edamame, cucumbers, and carrots.
Green Goddess Dressing: This one's my own recipe. I use baby spinach leaves, basil leaves, garlic, yoghurt, and lemon juice to make a creamy, irresistible salad dressing. Great for all sorts of green salads!
These low-calorie dressings are all super easy to make, and you'll have them ready in less than 10 minutes. To be fair though - my homemade Caesar salad dressing recipe takes the cake, and that's why you should definitely try it out first!
Tips & Tricks
While this recipe for homemade Caesar dressing is super easy to make, here are some tips and tricks that I've picked up over the years.
Don't skip the anchovies. I know, some of you might be averse to them, but trust me – you won't even know it’s there. This anchovy Caesar dressing has a unique flavour that you won't get anywhere else! Even the biggest anchovy haters will wipe their plates clean.
Refrigerate your lettuce. Cold lettuce is equal to crunchy lettuce. No one wants a soggy salad, so make sure you keep your greens in the refrigerator until you serve them.
Go easy on the dressing. You don't want your salad to be swimming in dressing – a little goes a long way. Add just enough to coat the lettuce and veggies, that's all.
Store in an airtight jar and use it within 5-7 days. The flavour is best when served fresh, so make sure you don't keep the dressing for too long.
With all these tips, tricks, and recipe ideas, I'm sure you're ready to make my version of the best homemade Caesar salad dressing recipe in town! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
